On November 21st, 2014, Honorary Consul Dorel Nasui held the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova to Illinois. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Mid-America Club, enjoying the massive participation of the consular corps accredited representatives of the Office of the Governor, politicians and entrepreneurs, in addition to many members of national communities of Illinois.
The opening speech belonged to Republic of Moldova U.S. Ambassador Igor Munteanu, who noted “the importance of extending lasting bridges between Moldova and Illinois, open to sustainable partnerships in trade, investment and innovation,” and “the presence of a significant community of Moldovans in -a state whose history and identity have been deeply marked by vigorous communities in central and eastern European origins, attributes this inaugural moment very special importance.”
In turn, the Honorary Consul, Mr. Dorel Nasui, thanked the Ambassador and the audience for the honor of representing the country in one of the most powerful states in the U.S. He showed incredible determination to help the country makes its way to the European Union and other institutions of the Western world. “Moldova is a country of extraordinary beauty, full of history, culture, natural and human resources, as well as a wide variety of excellent wines. Enhancing economic, cultural and political relations between Moldova and Illinois will be my main priorities in the exercise of my office,” said Mr. Dorel Nasui.
